Security on trains

The recruitment and training of RailCorp Transit Officers has been a major security initiative. These officers perform revenue protection, customer service and security functions. To date, there are 600 Transit Officers employed on the network.

Transit Officers are highly trained security specialists who have the power of arrest and work in conjunction with the Police on targeted lines specified by RailCorp and Police intelligence. They have the power to issue infringement notices for ticketing, safety, behavioural, property & compliance offences and the power to ask people to leave trains and stations.
